Emotional Design- a primer exercise:

Select a product and an emotion from the matrix below and design or re-design the product to express that emotion. Gradually move away from anthropomorphic and zoomorphic forms and use shapes, patterns and colours that might communicate emotion by themselves. (i.e. don't treat everything like Thomas the Tank Engine and just put different faces on top of existing products- that's Anthropomorphic Design)
